Residential Elderly Care in Surrey & West Sussex

How We Work – Residential Elderly Care in Kenley and Horsham – Surrey & West Sussex

We are here for you.

Compassionate, kind, dedicated professionals – on call to support you 24/7.

As a family and a founding team, we are passionate about providing clean, homely spaces where elderly residents can relax and enjoy life without worrying about daily household chores and responsibilities.

We support residents’ rights to live as they please, with a dedicated carer they can trust and rely on. At Medicrest, we do not employ agency staff.

Instead, each of our homes is supported by a permanent team, creating a safe and familiar environment where residents feel known and valued by the people who care for them.

Every staff member is thoroughly vetted.

All Medicrest staff members undergo a thorough screening process, including an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check and detailed professional and character references. New employees complete a three-month probation period and receive bi-monthly clinical supervision. Long-standing staff receive annual performance appraisals, but the most valuable feedback comes directly from our residents and their families.

Who We Are

What to expect from our permanent care teams:

While each home is unique, all share the same core Medicrest Values:

Registered Care Manager

Registered Care Manager

The Registered Care Manager at each home is responsible for ensuring residents and their families receive the highest standards of elderly residential care in a clean, friendly and highly professional environment. The Care Manager is accessible most days of the week; in their absence, however, the most senior staff member on duty will be available to answer any questions or concerns.

Senior Care Assistants and Carers

Senior Care Assistants
and Carers

At Homelands, we employ a permanent team of registered nurses responsible for clinical nursing care. They offer general physical and mental health care, providing 24-hour elderly nursing services for both houses. Our team of qualified and experienced care assistants support our nurses, providing everything from personal care, mobility assistance, nutrition and medication management to palliative nursing and end-of-life care.

Kitchen Teams

Kitchen Teams

Nutrition is a key focus in maintaining both physical and mental health for our residents, no matter which care home you choose. While each home has its unique approach, all meals are freshly prepared from scratch using top-quality ingredients. Catering to medical and dietary requirements, our passionate culinary teams provide a continuous flow of delicious, nutritious dishes throughout the day.

Community and connection

Domestic Staff

Our dedicated domestic teams, including gardeners, cleaners, maintenance staff and laundry personnel, ensure that residents always have what they need in a clean and positive environment. From freshly cleaned bed linen and towels to personalised laundry services, we handle everything you no longer wish to deal with. Our teams also maintain communal areas 24/7 and work alongside care staff as needed, creating a safe, hygienic, and hassle-free environment for all residents.

Activity Coordinators

Activity Coordinators

We love hearing from our residents about what social events and activities they'd like to see more of. At our residential care homes in Surrey and West Sussex, we have summer BBQs, seasonal celebrations, and a range of activities for our residents to enjoy. Whether reading, writing, arts or crafts, our activity coordinators work to ensure we deliver something for everyone.

Supporting a flawless and
enjoyable
transition into your new home:

1.
Creating a care plan tailored to your needs

Every resident is required to do a preassessment with the relevant Care Home Manager to determine the type of care needed and whether we can provide it.

We understand it is not always possible for the prospective resident to meet with us in person due to health issues; trusted relatives or friends are welcome on their behalf.

We personalise our care services for you.

2.
Briefing the care team and preparing your room

The Care Manager or the most senior staff member on duty will oversee the following preparations:

  • Pre-Admission Checks
  • Care Team Briefing Process
  • Preparing Your Private Room
  • Warmth and Comfort
  • Safety and Quality Assurance
3.
Maintaining ongoing communication and support

Whether dementia, mental health, physical disability or end-of-life care, our highly vetted and experienced care teams are here to support you every step of the way.

At our family-run care homes in Surrey and West Sussex, every resident is paired with a named carer they can trust and feel comfortable with.

4.
Addressing resident concerns efficiently and with care

We tailor our service to suit your needs, but if you’re dissatisfied, the first person to speak to is the Care Manager. If unavailable, the most senior staff member on duty will assist you.

The manager will acknowledge your concerns within 72 hours, and we will document the issue, detailing the steps we will take to address it.

If our response does not fully resolve your concerns, we encourage you to reach out to our Inspectorate for further assistance.
